Good News! The Lab Has a New NIH Grant!

At long last (really … I haven’t blog posted in 7 years … that’s on me), some good news to share. The Mosca Lab now has a BRAND NEW R01 grant from the NIH to study how synaptic connections in the brain form! The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke has awarded an R01 grant 1R01NS151429-01 to Timothy J. Mosca, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at SKMC, for his project, Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Synaptic Growth Restriction in Central Olfactory Circuits. The five-year award, totaling support from September 1, 2026 through May 31, 2031. We finally got an NOA! We hope this new work will offer us new insight into how neurodevelopmental disorders occur and how we might be able to help people and families affected by them. We've been working toward this for a very long time and it is particularly special right now given everything that's going on. My infinite gratitude goes to the amazing people in my lab who poured their hearts and souls into the science, to the taxpayers for funding our work, and to NIH staff for continuing to do incredible work amidst hardship. Now we have TWO active NIH grants! So stay tuned for some really neat science!
